This article covers some key checks you can make with your Smart Probe when it appears there are power issues. This does not always mean there is a fault.

Step 1: Check the Charger and Charging Process

1. Ensure the Charger is Functional

  • Connect your smart probe to its charger. Look for a GREEN light on the charger to confirm it's receiving power.

  • Ensure the cable is healthy and not frayed, bent.

2. Try a Different Power Outlet

  • If you do not see a green light there might be a problem with the power outlet. Try plugging into another socket to rule out this possibility.

3. Check the pins on the charger cable and socket on the Probe

  • Pins can become bent if too much force is applied and likewise the socket on the Probe can become damaged.

  • Ensure the notch and holes on the socket are aligned properly and do not apply force until you are sure they are.

  • Is there any moisture or debris in the Probe charger socket or pins?

    A) Probe socket looking clean and healthy:

    B) Probe charger pins looking clean and healthy:

Step 2: Ensure the Probe is charged sufficiently

  • The Probe needs to be charged to at least 10% to boot up.

  • When you connect the charger and the Probe is below 10% battery, you will only see the charging progress on screen when you try powering. This is normal.

  • Once charged above 10% which may take an hour, you will then be able to power up as below.

Step 3: Ensure you are pressing the trigger correctly

  1. Hold the trigger for 8 seconds

  2. The Probe will vibrate for about 4 seconds

  3. The Navitas elephant logo will show on the screen

  4. The Android logo will then show on the screen

  5. You will then either be presented with the services screen - Goods In, Cooking, Chilling etc - or the login screen.

  • If this exact sequence does not occur as outlined, you are either not holding the trigger firmly or long enough or else the Probe is not sufficiently charged. Refer back to steps 1 and 2 above.

  • Try above steps again when the Probe is charged to at least 20%

Step 4: Contact support

  • If all of the above has been followed and the Probe does not power up or if there is clear damage, please contact support via the live chat and be sure to indicate if it is the charger or the Probe itself which seems defective:
